The Chevy Silverado has several problems that have been reported by drivers and
car owners. Some are pretty minor like clunking noises when accelerating or shifting
gears but there have been several hard cases that actually caused the recall of
several models of the Chevy Silverado. Case in point: the 2000 Chevy Silverado
was recalled because of a company defect on the installation of the airbags.
The problem could result in non-deflation of this safety device upon impact.
This can have serious repercussions as injuries and death can result out of this
dilemma. Another problem that Silverado has encountered is about the corrosion
and fracture of its tailgate cables. This problem targeted the 2000-2004 Silverado
and entailed one of the largest vehicle recalls in history, numbering up to 4
million vehicles.
Previously, the 1998 Silverado was also recalled because of the faulty steering
frame attachment bolts. The loosely attached bolts can cause the defragmentation
of the steering wheel from its frame.
